Enninful's career started unusually early: at around 18 he became fashion director of the London magazine i-D, one of the youngest people to hold such a post at an international publication.

Influence on the fashion business
At British Vogue, Enninful widened who appeared on the cover and inside the magazine, featuring people of different backgrounds, ages, body types and abilities, and placing activists and public figures alongside models and celebrities. His approach influenced how other fashion titles and brands thought about casting and representation, and the magazine expanded across digital and print channels during his tenure.
Before Vogue, his styling and editorial work at W magazine and for international Vogue editions made him a sought after collaborator for designers and photographers, and his OBE recognised his long standing focus on diversity.
With EE72, launched in 2025, he moved beyond a single magazine. The company describes itself as a global media and entertainment business developing content, immersive experiences and products focused on authentic representation and diverse storytelling. Announcing it, he said the company was "creating a space where creativity transcends boundaries", with diverse voices in leading roles. Its magazine published a Summer 2026 issue featuring an editorial with Rihanna.
Why it matters
Enninful's career tracks the main shifts in fashion media: from style magazines to global titles, and from print editing to independent, multi-format media companies. For brands, his work at British Vogue showed that inclusive casting and storytelling can be commercially and culturally powerful, an approach that continues to shape how fashion is presented.
