What is ALAINPAUL?
ALAINPAUL is a French designer label founded in 2023 by Alain Paul, who leads creative direction, and Luis Philippe, who handles strategy. Alain Paul trained as a dancer at the École Nationale Supérieure de Danse de Marseille before moving into fashion and working at Vetements from 2014. Luis Philippe worked at Colette and later with houses including Balenciaga, Alaïa, Sacai and Jacquemus.
Products and positioning
Collections draw on the dancer's wardrobe, combining freedom of movement with sophistication for everyday wear. Key elements include:
- Tapered trousers and precise tailoring
- Trench coats and knitwear
- Stretch fabrics alongside pure wool and cotton without blends or polyester
The brand blends menswear and womenswear, and its designer describes clothing as an extension of the body. Since launch it has sourced materials through Nona Source, the LVMH platform for resale of surplus fabrics.
Distribution
ALAINPAUL presented its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, "Impro", as its first show on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar. It is sold through international luxury retailers such as SSENSE.
Why it matters
ALAINPAUL is one of the young Paris labels that reached the official calendar within its first collections, building on its founders' experience at influential houses.
