What is BAG AFFAIR?
BAG AFFAIR is a French bag brand based in Brest, in Brittany. A press release issued for the Neonyt fair in Berlin in July 2019 described it as less than two years old at that point, and named Ronja Nielsen as a co-founder.
Products and positioning
The brand designs business handbags for working women who, in its view, lacked suitable professional bags. It emphasises sustainable materials and uses cork in particular, which avoids the tanning process required for leather.
Distribution
In 2019 the brand was expanding into Germany. Its appearance at Neonyt, from 2 to 4 July 2019, was its first international trade show. It took part together with SloWeAre, a French platform that lists sustainable brands after an audit.
A later trade press release from 2021 referred to a Made in France collection, produced in Saint-Malo, but the details of that range are not covered here.
