What is Batycki?
Batycki is one of Poland's oldest leather goods brands. It was founded in 1948 by Tadeusz Batycki, who was born in Lviv and settled in the Tricity area after the Second World War, starting with a small workshop on Starowiejska Street in Gdynia.
History
The business grew from that workshop into a recognised Polish accessories label. Bożena Batycka, the founder's daughter-in-law, joined in 1989 and became chief designer in 1997. In 2000 the brand introduced its signature detail, a small amber "eye" set on every product, linking it to the amber traditions of the Baltic coast. A factory with a showroom opened in Gdańsk in 2005, and the brand also ran a boutique in Warsaw's Hotel Bristol. The brand and its trademarks are now owned by Maria Magdalena Rutkowska.
