What is Lemon Jelly?
Lemon Jelly is a footwear brand designed in Portugal and recognisable by the scent of lemon built into its shoes. It was launched by Procalçado, a Portuguese producer of soles and footwear components with more than four decades of experience.
History
Procalçado began working on injected footwear in 2010 and presented Lemon Jelly at the MICAM trade fair in 2013, with plastic boots at the heart of the first collections. The brand has since celebrated its tenth anniversary.
Products and positioning
The range focuses on women's shoes, including ankle boots, boots, high boots, sandals, slides and sneakers. It has expanded into rainwear, clothing and accessories such as handbags, socks and leg warmers.
- Brand identity is built on recycled and recyclable materials and a vegan label.
- Many styles are water resistant.
- NYSSA is presented as the brand's first fully circular handbag.
Distribution
Lemon Jelly sells through its own online shop and through retailers in dozens of countries, with a loyalty programme called Life in Yellow.
Why it matters
The brand shows how a Portuguese component supplier used its injection moulding expertise to build a consumer brand with a clear circularity message.
