Who is Antoine Arnault?
Antoine Arnault, born in 1977, is a senior executive of LVMH and the eldest son of its chairman Bernard Arnault. LVMH describes his remit as covering communication, image and sustainable development across the group. He oversees communication, image and sustainable development for the group as director of image and environment, and is chief executive and vice chairman of Christian Dior SE, the holding company through which the family controls LVMH.
Career
A graduate of HEC Montréal with an MBA from INSEAD, Arnault founded a technology company specialising in internet domain registration in 2000 before joining Louis Vuitton, where he rose to communication director. In 2011 he became chief executive of Berluti, expanding the specialist shoemaker into a full luxury menswear label. After LVMH acquired Loro Piana in 2013 he became its chairman, a role he held until 2025.
He has led image and environment for LVMH since 2020 and became chief executive and vice chairman of Christian Dior SE in December 2022, succeeding Sidney Toledano. Since January 2024 he has chaired the supervisory board of Berluti, and in February 2026 he joined the LVMH executive committee. He is also a member of the LVMH board and, since November 2024, a director of Paris Football Club.
Influence on the fashion business
Arnault's work has focused on how luxury houses communicate their values and craftsmanship to a wider public. Highlights include:
- Launching Les Journées Particulières, which opens the workshops of LVMH houses to the public free of charge
- Leading LVMH's partnership with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games
- Overseeing the group's environmental and sustainability communication
- Developing Berluti and Loro Piana within the group's portfolio
At Louis Vuitton he was also behind the Core Values advertising campaign, which featured prominent public figures rather than models.
Why it matters
As LVMH is the world's largest luxury group, the way it presents its craftsmanship, heritage and environmental commitments influences expectations across the industry. Antoine Arnault is at the centre of that effort and, through his role at Christian Dior SE and his recent appointment to the executive committee, is one of the most senior members of the next generation of the family leading the group.
