What is Aranaz?

Aranaz is a design label from the Philippines, based in Muntinlupa in Metro Manila. It is run by a mother and daughter team: Amina Aranaz-Alunan is creative director and lead designer, and Rosanna Aranaz leads international sales, branding and marketing. Amina trained in accessories design at Istituto Marangoni in Italy, and her family has long made bags and accessories for international brands.

Products and positioning

Aranaz handbags pair traditional Filipino materials with leather and gold chain details. Natural materials are sourced directly from local farmers, and pieces are made by hand in the Philippines using:

  • Weaving and embroidery
  • Wood carving
  • Metal sculpting

Styles include the Mezcla tote and fringe shoulder bag and the Curba handbag. The Aranaz Home line adds lanterns, including a table lantern inspired by the nipa hut, and dining ware.

Distribution

The label sells through its own website and has expanded into international markets. Its bags have been featured by Vogue Paris and Moda Operandi.

Why it matters

Aranaz shows how Filipino craft and indigenous materials can be positioned as contemporary luxury accessories for an international audience.
