What is Aritzia?
Aritzia is a vertically integrated fashion house that sells womenswear designed in-house under a family of exclusive brands, including Wilfred, Babaton, TNA, Sunday Best, Golden and Super Puff. The company describes its positioning as Everyday Luxury: elevated design and a curated store experience at prices below designer fashion.
History
Brian Hill opened the first store in Oakridge Centre in Vancouver in 1984. The company expanded across Canada and opened its first US stores in Seattle and Santa Clara in 2007, followed by e-commerce in 2012. Aritzia went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2016. In 2021 it bought the Canadian athleisure brand Reigning Champ, and in May 2022 Jennifer Wong, who had joined as a sales associate in 1987 and served as chief operating officer, succeeded Hill as chief executive. In February 2026 Aritzia acquired the Fred Segal brand, including the original Los Angeles flagship lease on Melrose Avenue. Investment firm Berkshire Partners, previously a major shareholder, exited its stake in 2019.

Business model and distribution
Aritzia sells only its own brands, through boutiques in Canada and the United States and through aritzia.com. Growth has been driven by the US market: in its fiscal third quarter ended November 2025, US net revenue of 621.1 million dollars clearly exceeded the 419.2 million dollars generated in Canada, according to FashionNetwork.
Why it matters
Aritzia is one of the most successful examples of a vertically integrated, multi-label retailer built outside the large European groups. Its combination of exclusive design, carefully controlled store experience and strong e-commerce has made it a benchmark for premium high street retail in North America.
