What is Clockhouse?
Clockhouse is the young fashion line of C&A, the retailer whose German business is based in Düsseldorf. It targets younger shoppers with affordable, trend-focused clothing and sits within C&A's wider portfolio of in-house labels.
History
C&A has repeatedly reworked Clockhouse to keep it relevant to a youth audience. As early as 1999 the retailer revamped the brand to win back share in the youth market. In 2013 it was developing a new concept for the line in response to growing competition from fast fashion players such as Primark, Bershka and Forever 21, with former Inditex manager José Luis Pavia Cervera having been hired to lead the line before leaving that year.
Distribution
Clockhouse is sold within C&A stores and through standalone formats. Stores in Vienna and Madrid were the first to be remodelled under the 2013 concept, with the Schadowstraße store in Düsseldorf planned as a flagship. C&A has also opened concept stores dedicated to the brand elsewhere in Europe.
