GU: GU is the low-price fashion brand of Fast Retailing, the Japanese group that owns Uniqlo. Launched with its first store in 2006, it offers trend-led clothing at lower prices than Uniqlo, operates almost 480 stores mainly in Japan and Asia, and appointed former Marni designer Francesco Risso as creative director in January 2026.
Theory: Theory is a New York contemporary fashion brand founded in 1997 by Andrew Rosen and Elie Tahari and known for minimalist tailoring and workwear. It has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Fast Retailing, the Japanese parent of Uniqlo, since 2009.
Uniqlo: Uniqlo is the Japanese casualwear brand founded by Tadashi Yanai, who opened the first store in Hiroshima in 1984, and the core brand of Fast Retailing. Known for its LifeWear philosophy and functional fabrics such as HEATTECH and AIRism, it operates more than 2,500 stores and is one of the world's largest apparel retailers.
