What is Sunderland of Scotland?
Sunderland of Scotland is a technical golfwear brand with roots in Glasgow. The Sunderland family began tailoring manufacture in the city in 1911, and Toby and Ida Sunderland founded Sunderland Sportswear Ltd in 1966, later renamed Sunderland of Scotland.
History
The company signed Greg Norman as a staff tour professional in 1981, followed by Nick Faldo and Sandy Lyle in 1983 and Annika Sorenstam in 1994. It moved to larger premises in Trongate, central Glasgow, in 1986 and opened a US subsidiary in California in 1989. The family sold the business to Harris Watson PLC in 2003, and in 2009 Glenmuir became the official European distributor of Sunderland products.
