Who is Daniel Grieder?
Daniel Grieder has been chief executive officer of HUGO BOSS AG since 1 June 2021. On the managing board he is responsible for areas including group strategy, creative direction, marketing and brand communications, licences, human resources and corporate communications. He studied business administration at HWZ in Zurich.
Career
Grieder began as an entrepreneur. In 1985 he founded Max Trade Service AG, which distributed international brands in Switzerland, Austria and Eastern Europe. His long association with Tommy Hilfiger began in 1997, when he led the brand's expansion in Europe.
He became chief executive of Tommy Hilfiger Europe in 2008 and, from 2014, served as chief executive of Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe, where his remit also covered Calvin Klein in Europe. He left in 2020 and joined HUGO BOSS as chief executive the following year.
Influence on the fashion business
Shortly after his arrival Grieder introduced CLAIM 5, a growth strategy built around brand relevance, digital, product, omnichannel and operational efficiency. A central element was the 2022 refresh of the BOSS and HUGO brands, with new logos, campaigns and a stronger focus on younger consumers. The company subsequently reported record sales and earnings.
