Who is Michael Burke?
Michael Burke, born in 1957, is a French American luxury executive whose career with Bernard Arnault spans about four decades. Since February 2024 he has been chairman and chief executive of LVMH Fashion Group, the division that brings together Celine, Givenchy, Kenzo, Loewe, Marc Jacobs, Patou, Pucci and Rossimoda. He is a member of the LVMH executive committee, the body that runs the group day to day under Bernard Arnault.
Career
Burke began in the investment activities of Groupe Arnault and went on to lead Christian Dior USA from 1986 to 1992 and Louis Vuitton North America from 1992 to 1997. In 1997 he became worldwide managing director of Christian Dior Couture. In 2003 he was named chairman and chief executive of Fendi, where he oversaw a significant renewal of the Roman house.
In 2012 he was appointed chief executive of Bulgari and later that year became chairman and chief executive of Louis Vuitton, the largest brand in the group, which he led for more than a decade. He became non executive chairman of the Tiffany board in January 2021, after LVMH's acquisition of the jeweller, and advisor to the chairman in February 2023. On 1 February 2024 he succeeded Sidney Toledano at the head of LVMH Fashion Group.
