What is Alon Livné?
Alon Livné is the self-titled label of the Israeli fashion designer Alon Livné, who was born in Tel Aviv in the mid-1980s. The business runs two lines: ready-to-wear under the Alon Livné name and bridal wear under Alon Livné White, which is sold internationally, including through the New York bridal retailer Kleinfeld.
History
Livné began studying fashion design at the Shenkar College of Art and Design at the age of 17. Before launching his own label he gained experience at Roberto Cavalli and Alexander McQueen and appeared on the television competition Project Runway Israel. The label has since dressed a series of international celebrities.
- Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton have worn his designs.
- In 2013 Beyoncé commissioned outfits for her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.
Products and positioning
The house works in the designer segment, with sculptural gowns for brides and special occasions forming the core of its international profile. The bridal collection, Alon Livné White, sits alongside a ready-to-wear line for womenswear.
Why it matters
Alon Livné is one of the best known names in Israeli fashion abroad. Its combination of celebrity stage wear and a wholesale bridal business shows how a designer from a smaller market can build global reach through a specialist category such as bridal.
