What is Alvarno?
Alvarno is a Spanish luxury womenswear label based in Madrid, founded by designers Arnaud Maillard and Álvaro Castejón. The name combines their first names, and their motto is The Light of Madrid and the Spirit of Paris.
History
The label held its first fashion show on 18 February 2010 at the Palacio Fernán Núñez in Madrid. From 2013 to June 2016 the designers were creative directors of the French house Loris Azzaro, and on 10 July 2014 they made their haute couture debut in Paris. Alvarno won the L'Oréal award at MBFW Madrid three times, in September 2014, February 2015 and September 2015.
Products and positioning
Alvarno aims to raise ready-to-wear to luxury through fine fabrics, embroidery and precise pattern-making, with a style it calls baroque minimalism and prêt-à-couture. It also designs bridal pieces.
