What is Angelos Bratis?
Angelos Bratis is the eponymous label of the Athens born designer of the same name. After building his career in Italy, he returned to Greece in 2005 to establish his own brand, and in 2017 opened a second studio in the centre of Athens.
History
Bratis studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute Arnhem (ArtEZ) in the Netherlands, graduating with a master's degree, and worked behind the scenes for established designers in Italy. In 2011 he won Who Is On Next?, the talent competition founded by Vogue Italia, Silvia Venturini Fendi and AltaRoma. Giorgio Armani later chose him as a protégé and sponsored his show in the Armani Teatro, which opened Milan Fashion Week in September 2014.
Products and positioning
The label is known for fluid silhouettes and signature drapes, with a mood of relaxed elegance. Evening dresses are central, and collections have used bright colours and bold geometric patterns. The brand has also collaborated with Harris Tweed.
Distribution
Collections have been presented in Milan, Paris, Amsterdam, Athens, Beijing and New York.
Why it matters
Bratis is one of the most internationally recognised Greek designers of his generation, showing how mentoring and competition platforms can open the Milan stage to independent talent.
