Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave met while studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and began their partnership in Nørrebro after graduating, founding the brand in 1999. In 2020, during the pandemic, it launched the Back to Back Artist Collaboration supporting seven emerging visual artists. In 2024 it released a capsule collection with the sneaker company Etonic.
