What is BAW Clothing?
BAW Clothing is a Brazilian streetwear label founded in 2014 by brothers Bruno Karra and Lucas Karra. The name stands for Black And White, because the first shirts were made only in those two colours.
History
The brand grew as a digital-first business, releasing new products in fortnightly online drops supported by influencer partnerships. In June 2021 Arezzo&Co announced the acquisition of BAW through its apparel and lifestyle division AR&Co, and the founders became shareholders of the group while continuing to lead business and product.
Products and positioning
BAW makes clothing in several categories, led by knitwear and jersey pieces in basic, comfortable cuts for all genders and body types. After the acquisition it announced plans to move into sneakers. The brand regularly works on campaigns and collaborations, including projects with urban artists and a Christmas collection with Bauducco.
Distribution
BAW started as an online-only brand and later began opening physical stores in major Brazilian cities, conceived as spaces for experimentation.
Why it matters
BAW is an example of a Brazilian digitally native streetwear brand bought by a large footwear and fashion group, showing how established players are adding younger, online-born labels to their portfolios.
