What is Blackfin?
Blackfin is an Italian eyewear brand known for frames made entirely of titanium. Every frame uses Japanese titanium but is worked entirely in Italy, at the company's base in Agordo, in the Belluno area of the Dolomites.
History
The company's roots go back to 1971, when Maria Pramaor opened her own frame-making workshop in Agordo after nine years in the industry, together with her husband Primo Del Din. The business began working with titanium in 1991 and has never moved away from Agordo. Its headquarters, known as Black Shelter, holds CasaClima Work&Life certification.
Products and positioning
Raw titanium is bought from certified producers in Japan. Each model moves from concept and sketch to prototype, followed by technical tests, colour matching and adjustments, all carried out in Italy.
- Optical frames
- Sunglasses, including polarised models
- Lightweight titanium construction
Distribution
Blackfin is sold through independent opticians, located through the brand's store finder, and through its own online store.
Why it matters
Blackfin is a notable example of the Belluno eyewear district, combining a single-material speciality with vertically integrated Italian production in a market dominated by large groups.
