What is Cotélac?
Cotélac is a French ready-to-wear brand founded in 1993 on the shores of Lake Nantua by Raphaëlle Cavalli, a graduate of the Lyon Beaux-Arts, and Pierre Pernod. The two met at the knitwear company Tehen in Nantua before leaving to start their own label.
History
In 2004 the company moved to larger premises in Ambérieu-en-Bugey in the Ain department and brought part of its production back to France. Its French workshop employs around fifteen seamstresses, who produce capsule collections and the brand's iconic artistic lines. Cotélac has also worked on artistic collaborations, including dressing staff for the 2015 Nuits de Fourvière festival in Lyon.
Products and positioning
Cavalli's collections have an ethnic, bohemian style with original prints. The brand makes its own pleated fabric for its signature pieces, and average prices sit between 50 and 200 euros.
