What is Fusalp?
Fusalp is a French ski and fashion label based in Annecy on Lake Annecy. It was founded in 1952 by two tailors, Georges Ribola and René Veyrat.
History
The founders began by making the fuseau, a specialised ski trouser. In 1966, at the world ski championships in Portillo, Chile, they created the first competition ski suit. Work with the French Ski Federation led to the outfitting of French teams, and Fusalp is now the official partner of the GB Team.
Products and positioning
The brand describes itself as a ski and fashion tech clothing label. It is credited with inventing bi-stretch fabric and developing a proprietary softshell technique. Its range includes:
- Ski collections for women, men and children
- Ready-to-wear designed in a tailoring workshop in Paris
- Accessories such as gloves, socks and helmets
A quality and R&D laboratory in Annecy, in place since 2018, runs more than 8,000 tests a year on its textiles.
Why it matters
Fusalp links ski racing heritage with ready-to-wear, using technical textile development as the common thread.
