What is Grisport?
Grisport is a footwear brand from Castelcucco, a town at the foot of the Dolomite Mountains in Italy. The Italian brothers Graziano and Mario Grigolato founded it in 1977, when they made the first pair of handmade walking shoes in their home.
History
The first product was a hand-stitched, moccasin-style walking shoe, and the Modena and Kielder models still follow its design. Production later moved to a larger factory in the same town. The company patented its Support System and has worked with Vibram and Sympatex on materials. Around 2008 it invested almost 6 million pounds in solar panels to power its factory.
Products and positioning
Today Grisport offers more than 5,000 models of walking and trekking boots and shoes, safety footwear, comfort shoes and wellingtons, all made in Europe. This breadth places it across outdoor, work and everyday footwear, and it is stocked by outdoor and country clothing retailers such as Mountain Warehouse and The Outdoors Company.
Why it matters
Grisport is a family-founded Italian manufacturer that has grown from a home workshop into a producer with thousands of models while keeping production in Europe.
