What is Hundred Pieces?
Hundred Pieces is the in-house childrenswear brand of Smallable, the Paris-based online store for children and families. Smallable founder Cécile Roederer described the aim as creating a designer label rather than a typical retailer's private label.
History
The brand launched with a spring-summer 2013 collection of around forty pieces, inspired by the beaches of California. Its English name was chosen with international customers in mind, and the company indicated that the label could later extend into areas such as home decoration or small toys.
Products and positioning
- Clothing for children and teens aged 2 to 14, with a baby line added for 3 to 18 months
- Comfortable pieces mainly in cotton jersey and cotton fleece
- Tank tops, T-shirts, dresses and other everyday basics
Collections are designed in Paris and manufactured in Portugal.
Distribution
Hundred Pieces is sold through Smallable's online store.
Why it matters
The label is an example of a multibrand e-tailer creating its own brand to complement the designer labels it stocks, using its customer knowledge to shape product and pricing.
