What is MELAWEAR?
MELAWEAR began in 2014 as a small start-up in Lüneburg and is now headquartered in Kassel, where it runs offices, logistics, a showroom and a photo studio. The brand was set up by three co-founders with a focus on fair and ecological production.
Products and positioning
The range includes backpacks such as the Ansvar I, T-shirts, the YALA sneaker, socks and home textiles under the MELA home label. Products are certified to Fairtrade Cotton and GOTS standards and, since 2019, also carry Germany's Grüner Knopf (Green Button) seal. The company says it is the only company in the world to have its entire range triple certified, and it is a licensee of the Fairtrade Textile Standard.
