What is Samoon?
Samoon is a plus size womenswear brand with German roots. For many years it formed part of the Gerry Weber fashion group, where it served as the label for women seeking fashionable collections in larger sizes.
History
Following the insolvency of Gerry Weber International GmbH, the rights to Samoon were held by GWI Holding, a Luxembourg holding company and shareholder of the insolvent business. In June 2025 Spain's Victrix Group, the parent company of the Punt Roma fashion chain, acquired the Samoon rights, shortly after it had also bought the Gerry Weber brand. As a result, Samoon and Gerry Weber are once again under the same owner.
Products and positioning
Samoon focuses on womenswear in plus sizes. Its offer has long been positioned in the mid-market, alongside the broader Gerry Weber range.
Why it matters
Samoon is one of the established brand names in the European plus size segment, and its move to Victrix Group illustrates how the Gerry Weber portfolio has been redistributed to new owners after insolvency.
