What is SENSOR?
SENSOR is a Czech sportswear brand specialising in functional underwear and sports clothing for activities such as cycling, running and outdoor sports. It has been producing functional apparel for more than twenty years.
History
Founder Milan Jurka started his first business, focused on bicycles, in 1991. Early SENSOR products were T-shirts sold alongside cycling goods. Sewing was initially done by partner firms, until the company built its own factory in Bystřice pod Hostýnem in Moravia, completed in 2020.
Products and positioning
The collection covers base layers, T-shirts, tank tops, cycling jerseys, caps and underwear. Material choices are central to the brand:
- Merino wool lines using wool from Australia and New Zealand
- Synthetic products made in large part from recycled PET bottles
- Technical fabrics for moisture management during sport
Distribution
SENSOR sells through sports and cycling shops and partner retailers rather than its own stores, which it closed to avoid competing with its stockists. Export markets include Germany, Austria, Scandinavia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Poland and Slovakia.
Why it matters
SENSOR is a rare example of a sportswear brand that has moved production back to its home country rather than Asia, pairing local manufacturing with recycled materials.
