What is BOBKOVA?
BOBKOVA is the namesake label of Ukrainian designer Kristina Bobkova. She founded the brand in 2000 at the age of 23, after graduating from the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. The atelier is in Kyiv; since 2022 Bobkova has lived in Marburg, Germany, managing the brand from there.
Products and positioning
The label is known for casual wear with Japanese-influenced straight cuts paired with flowing, feminine details, and for designs meant to be relevant regardless of time and situation. The collections also question gender stereotypes in clothing. Signature pieces include asymmetrical dresses and two-piece suits. The range covers:
- Suits, shirts, knitwear, dresses, tops and capes
- Shoes and customised footwear
- Bags, earrings and handmade accessories
Bobkova works with technological fabrics and unusual finishes, and many pieces use upcycled or deadstock materials. The Autumn/Winter 2024/25 collection used upcycled or natural materials such as silk, cotton, wool and cashmere.
Distribution
BOBKOVA has shown at Ukrainian Fashion Week and at Berlin Fashion Week, including a runway show in Berlin Mitte.
Why it matters
BOBKOVA is one of the long-standing names of Ukrainian design, continuing to produce and show internationally while bringing upcycling into a seasonless designer offer.
