What is Boxfresh?
Boxfresh is a British brand founded in London in 1989 by Roger Wade. It began by selling customised prints on vintage T-shirts at London markets.
History
Clothing was sold in Japan from 1991, and the first flagship shop opened in Covent Garden in 1992. The brand was licensed for the USA in 1995, and the Pentland Group acquired it in 2005. In 2015 it stopped making clothing to focus on footwear, and it opened a showroom in Dusseldorf that December. Wikipedia records that the label was discontinued in December 2020.
Relaunch
According to FashionNetwork, writing in June 2026, Luke Hodson, founder of Nerds Collective, acquired the brand licence and brought in a team of designers and industry veterans. The spring/summer 2026 collection was released in drops, with a first delivery in May 2026 and a larger second delivery with a campaign shot in Marseille. The range covers outerwear, dense knit tops, practical bottoms and printed designs.
Why it matters
Boxfresh is a documented case of a heritage British label being revived through a licence deal after a period off the market.
