What is Damiani?

Damiani is an Italian group that designs, manufactures, distributes and sells jewellery and watches. Wikipedia and trade sources date its founding to Valenza, Italy, in 1924 by Enrico Grassi Damiani, although one trade report gives 1925. It is run by the third generation of the family, with Guido Damiani as president.

History

Damiani grew after the Second World War, and its founder's son led the business from about 1960 to 1990 while it expanded across Europe and into Asia. It entered the US market around 2000 and began tailoring products for it in 2001. The company listed on the Milan stock exchange in 2007. In December 2018 the family holding company Leading Jewels S.A. launched a buyout offer of 0.855 euros per share to delist the company, and by March 2019 it held more than 96% of the shares, returning Damiani to private family ownership.

Products and positioning

The group's best known jewellery lines include Salvini, Bliss and Calderoni, alongside the Damiani name itself. A 2026 trade report also names Rocca as a distributor and Venini, the Murano artistic glass maker, within the group. The same report says Damiani agreed to acquire the watch brand Baume&Mercier from Richemont, with closing expected in the summer of 2026.

Business model and distribution

Damiani sells through its own stores in cities such as Milan, Rome, Paris, Dubai, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and Seoul. It opened more than 30 stores in its last fiscal year, including a flagship in Seoul's Gangnam district, according to Modaes. In 2012 it partnered with the Hengdeli Group for distribution in China.

Why it matters

Damiani is one of the larger independent, family-controlled jewellery groups in Italy. According to Modaes, it reported revenue above 400 million euros in the year ended 31 March 2026, roughly 5% higher than the year before, and it is expanding its portfolio through acquisitions.
