What is Fullcount?
Fullcount is a premium denim brand from Osaka, Japan, founded in 1992 by Mikiharu Tsujita. It is counted among the so called Osaka Five, the group of labels that pioneered Japanese reproduction denim alongside Denime, Evisu, Studio D'Artisan and Warehouse.
Products and positioning
Fullcount focuses on historical styles inspired by American garments from the early to mid 20th century. Its range includes selvedge denim jeans from a lighter 11.5oz up to the 15.5oz flagship fabric, as well as denim jackets, shirts and basics for men and women. Standard jeans are priced from around 30,500 yen, with special editions at 50,000 yen and above.
Tsujita was the first Japanese denim maker to use Zimbabwe cotton, prized for its long, soft fibres. The choice was unusual at the time and has since become common in the industry.
Distribution
The brand runs its own shop in the Chuo district of Osaka and is stocked by specialist heritage menswear retailers internationally.
Why it matters
Fullcount helped define the standards of Japanese premium denim, from fabric sourcing to faithful vintage fits, and remains a reference brand for collectors and heritage retailers.
