What is Intimissimi?
Intimissimi is an Italian brand of underwear, lingerie and sleepwear for women and men. Its women's range includes bras, knickers, lingerie, knitwear and nightwear, while the men's line, marketed as Intimissimi Uomo, offers boxers, briefs, tops, socks and swimwear. The brand is part of Oniverse, the group headquartered in Dossobuono di Villafranca di Verona.
History
Intimissimi was founded in 1996 by Sandro Veronesi, who had launched the legwear brand Calzedonia a decade earlier. It expanded quickly through single brand stores and passed 1,000 stores worldwide by 2006. In October 2017 it opened a store on Fifth Avenue in New York. The parent company, Calzedonia Group, was renamed Oniverse on 4 December 2023; Sandro Veronesi is chairman and majority shareholder.
Products and positioning
Intimissimi sits above its sister brand Tezenis in price and style, presenting itself as Italian lingerie with a refined look at accessible prices. Its offer covers:
- Bras, knickers and lingerie sets
- Nightwear and loungewear
- Knitwear and easywear
- Men's underwear and sleepwear
The brand has used high profile faces in its marketing. Shlomit Malka fronted campaigns from 2015 to 2017 before Dakota Johnson, and a 2017 campaign photographed by Mario Testino featured Irina Shayk and Ana Ivanovic. In 2023 Jennifer Lopez co-designed the capsule collection This Is Me Now.
Business model and distribution
Like the rest of Oniverse, Intimissimi relies on a dense network of single brand stores, both directly operated and franchised, combined with national e-commerce sites. Across its brands the group runs more than 5,700 single brand stores in 55 countries as of 2025. Intimissimi also offers a loyalty programme, My Intimissimi, and gift cards.
Why it matters
Intimissimi helped turn a hosiery business into a global multi brand group and remains one of the best known European specialists in lingerie retail. Its mix of accessible pricing, Italian identity and celebrity marketing makes it a key competitor for international lingerie chains.
