What is Jacadi?
Jacadi is a French brand of clothing, shoes and accessories for babies and children aged 0 to 12. Its style draws on classic French children's dress, with references to the Belle Époque: smocked dresses, collared shirts, knitwear and soft pastel tones. The brand also offers birth lists and baby care products.
History
Jacadi was founded in 1976 in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, by Patrick and Christina Hamelle, Anne Lefort and Patrick Harmand. Over the following decades it built an international network of stores, many run with franchise partners. In 2016 it launched Le Bébé Jacadi, a baby care line.
Since 2005 Jacadi has been owned by IDKIDS, the northern French childrenswear group behind Okaïdi. When IDKIDS went into receivership, Jacadi was kept outside the proceedings. In February 2026 the US firm Blue Water Venture Partners announced its intention to buy the brand, and in April 2026 the Deveaux family group, owner of Armand Thiery and Toscane, notified the French competition authority of a proposed acquisition of exclusive control, according to FashionUnited. At that point no sale had been completed.
Products and positioning
Jacadi sits in the premium childrenswear segment, below luxury houses such as Bonpoint. Its range includes:
- Babywear and birth gifts
- Girls' and boys' clothing up to age 12
- Children's shoes and accessories
- Baby care products
Business model and distribution
The brand sells through own stores and franchise partners, with around 110 points of sale in France according to French Wikipedia, plus international stores and its own e-commerce, which also hosts birth registries. In 2018 Jacadi closed its UK stores after a dispute with a franchise partner. IDKIDS reported a 35 percent rise in Jacadi's profitability in 2025.
Why it matters
Jacadi is one of the best known French names in classic childrenswear and a profitable asset within a group in difficulty. The outcome of its sale will show how investors value heritage children's brands in a shrinking birth rate environment.
