What is KUNERT?
KUNERT is one of Germany's best known hosiery brands. Today the business is run by KUNERT FASHION GMBH in Immenstadt in the Allgäu, and its portfolio includes KUNERT, KUNERT MEN and the sister brand Hudson.
History
The company began in 1907 as a knitting factory registered by Maria Kunert in Warnsdorf, today Varnsdorf in the Czech Republic. Her husband Julius Kunert and later their sons joined the business. After the family lost the company at the end of the Second World War, it was rebuilt in Immenstadt from 1947. KUNERT acquired Hudson in 1978, became Europe's largest hosiery producer in 1979 and went public in 1988. After an investor takeover in 2004 and insolvency in 2013, the operating business continued as KUNERT FASHION GMBH.
