History

Andy Laats and Chad DiNenna founded Nixon in Encinitas in 1997. Billabong acquired the company in December 2006. In 2012 Nixon became independent again through an agreement with Trilantic Capital Partners and Billabong, under which each held 48.5 percent, with management holding the rest.

Products and positioning

Watches remain the centre of the brand, with the Time Teller and 51-30 Chrono regarded as collectors' items. Nixon holds the patent for the Locking Looper watch band closure. Beyond watches it sells:
