What is Ocean & Earth?
Ocean & Earth is an independently owned surf company based in Sussex Inlet on the South Coast of New South Wales. It describes itself as run by surfers and as offering one of the largest ranges of premium surf accessories in the world.
History
The company was started by Brian Cregan, a professional surfer and qualified carpenter, who registered the name so he could fund a surfing career. Its first product was a surfboard leash, made after his own leash broke during a competition. While in South Africa, Cregan was introduced to urethane for leashes by former world surfing champion Shaun Tomson and brought the idea home. Early production took place in garages around Sussex Inlet, and the business grew through a network of surf retailers across New South Wales and southern Queensland.
