What is Slowear?

Slowear is an Italian group and retail concept that brings together four product specialists: Incotex for trousers, Zanone for knitwear, Glanshirt for shirts and Montedoro for outerwear. The operating company, Slowear S.p.A., is located in Mira, in the Venice area.

History

Roberto Compagno introduced the Slowear concept in 2003 as a counterpoint to fast fashion. He was the son of Carlo Compagno, who had founded the trouser manufacturer Industrie Confezioni Tessili and later launched Incotex. Roberto Compagno served as chief executive and died in September 2021 at the age of 62.

Ownership and leadership

On 27 April 2026, German trade publication Textilwirtschaft reported that Slowear had carried out a capital increase, with shareholders led by the private equity firm Nuo supplying new funds. The Italian state also took a stake through Invitalia, the national investment promotion agency. The report also named Alessandro Varisco, previously CEO of Twinset, as the successor to Piero Braga.

Products and positioning

The group stresses timeless, durable clothing and a slower rhythm than fast fashion. Each brand focuses on a single garment type, which supports a specialist positioning in premium menswear.

Business model and distribution

Slowear sells through wholesale partners and its own stores, which were designed to resemble multibrand shops. More than 30 stores have been opened, including in Munich and Hamburg. The store locator on the official site lists Forte dei Marmi, Milan, New York, London, Paris and Rome.

Why it matters

Slowear is a notable example of grouping specialist Italian labels under one retail concept, and its 2026 recapitalisation marks a new phase after the founder's death.
