History
Alemdar, a former gymnast, moved to New York to study English and founded Stylein there in 2001 without planning to start a brand. Her first, hand sewn collection was shown in a New York nightclub only a couple of months after she began, in a club kid style using sheer tulle and mesh. The label later moved to Stockholm and grew from a one woman operation into a team.
Products and positioning
Today Stylein designs non trend driven pieces, reworking classics in new fabrics and colourways. The brand runs a Stockholm showroom and an in house atelier, where toiles are made and prototypes rather than sketches are sent to manufacturers, reducing sample shipping. It encourages customers to buy selectively.
Distribution
Stylein sells through its own website and through retailers, and in spring 2025 opened a permanent flagship store at Mäster Samuelsgatan 6 in Bibliotekstan, Stockholm's premium shopping district.
