Vaquera is an American fashion label from New York, founded in 2013 by Alabama-born designer Patric DiCaprio with Bryn Taubensee. Claire Sullivan and David Moses also worked with the brand as co-designers through the 2010s.
History
The label was nominated for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2017. That June it created a runway collection linked to the television series The Handmaid's Tale. In February 2020 Dover Street Market New York hosted Vaquera's runway show, after which the brand joined Dover Street Market's Paris showroom and incubator programme.
Products and positioning
Vaquera's work is known for dadaist and do-it-yourself sensibilities and for what has been described as fashion fan fiction, such as a dress shaped like a Tiffany & Co. shopping bag.
