What is Yeezy?
Yeezy is the fashion and creative company of the American artist Kanye West, also known as Ye, operating through Yeezy LLC. Founded in 2013, it spans clothing, footwear and a music label released under the YZY name.
History
A partnership with adidas was announced in February 2015 and the first clothing collection followed that year. A second retail partnership, with Gap, was announced in June 2020 and the first product arrived in June 2021. Both partnerships ended in 2022, after which the label continued through its own channels. The yeezy.com website went offline in February 2025 and was fully restored in August 2025.
Products and positioning
The range covers t-shirts, hoodies, windbreakers, trench coats, shorts, joggers and socks, alongside footwear such as sneakers, EVA foam slides and slippers, boots, high heels and the Yeezy Pods sock shoe.
- Clothing in muted, utilitarian silhouettes
- Footwear led by foam slides and sneakers
- Sales through the brand's own website
Why it matters
Yeezy showed how a celebrity led label could use limited drops and partnerships with major sportswear and mass retail groups to create demand, and how quickly it could then move to a purely direct-to-consumer model.
