What is Zegna?
Zegna, styled ZEGNA, is a luxury menswear brand offering tailoring, casualwear, footwear and accessories. It is the main brand of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group, whose operational headquarters are in Milan and whose legal seat has been in the Netherlands since 2022. The group also includes Thom Browne and Tom Ford Fashion.
History
Ermenegildo Zegna founded a wool mill in Trivero, in the Biella area of Piedmont, in 1910. The family later moved from fabrics into finished menswear and international retail. In 2018 the group acquired a majority of Thom Browne, and in 2023 it took over the Tom Ford fashion business under a licence from The Estée Lauder Companies. The group listed on the New York Stock Exchange in December 2021 through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company backed by Investindustrial.
Products and positioning
Zegna is positioned at the top of the men's luxury market, with an emphasis on fabrics and fit. Alessandro Sartori has been artistic director since 2016. The Filiera, a group of Italian textile companies including the Lanificio Ermenegildo Zegna wool mill in Trivero, supplies the brand with its own fabrics, and the Oasi Zegna nature area in the Biellese Alps reflects the family's long-standing environmental commitment.

Business model and distribution
The group sells through more than 500 stores and through wholesale and e-commerce. Group revenue was about €1.9 billion in 2023. Gildo Zegna, grandson of the founder, has been executive chairman since January 2026, when Gianluca Tagliabue became group chief executive.
Why it matters
Zegna is one of the few luxury groups to control its supply chain from fibre and fabric to finished garment and store. Its transformation into a multi-brand, US-listed group with Thom Browne and Tom Ford Fashion makes it a model for how a family textile business can scale in global luxury.
