What is Flylow?

Flylow is an American outdoor clothing brand headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with team members in Jackson, Wyoming and Lake Tahoe. It was started by Greg Steen and Dan Abrams, Colorado natives and college friends who still own and run the company.

History

The founders could not find ski pants tough enough for the backcountry, so they set out to make their own. The first products, the Cactus Pant and the Black Coat, appeared in 2005. The name comes from a remark by a French skier, who told them they did not ski fast, they flew low. In 2016 the brand added spring and summer clothing for mountain biking, wakesurfing and camping.

Products and positioning

  • Ski and snowboard outerwear for men and women
  • Four season technical and casual clothing

The Good Lab

Through The Good Lab, Flylow helps nonprofit organisations design and sell customised products, with proceeds going to their causes.

Why it matters

Flylow is a founder owned challenger in a ski apparel market dominated by large groups, showing how a narrow product origin can grow into a year round outdoor brand.
