What is Goldgarn Denim?
Goldgarn Denim is a denim brand that started in Mannheim, Germany. Founder Kerem Özcelik describes Mannheim as a mindset as much as a place. The brand presents itself as working at the intersection of fashion, art and responsibility, with denim as a vehicle for attitude. It marked its tenth anniversary in 2025.
Products and positioning
Goldgarn makes jeans and related casualwear for men and women, with fit names drawn from places in the Rhine-Neckar region, such as Neckarau and Rheinau. For the anniversary the brand developed a capsule collection with the textile supplier ISKO, using fabrics made from recycled cotton and polyester fibres.
The capsule involved collaborations with local creatives. Carolin Wanitzek designed a set from recycled denim with an underwater-landscape look, and Mannheim artist Marilena Hamm, known as Scribblezone, created marine motifs for T-shirts. Proceeds from the T-shirts fund water projects.
Distribution
Goldgarn sells through more than 600 stores in Europe, mainly family-run specialty shops and independent multi-brand retailers. The label is also carried by the department store Breuninger.
