What is NORQAIN?
NORQAIN is an independent, family-run Swiss watchmaker founded in 2018 by Ben Küffer in Nidau. His father, Marc Küffer, chairs the board and spent 25 years on the board of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry.
History
The founding team also included Ted Schneider, from the family that owned Breitling for nearly 40 years, and Swiss ice hockey player and Stanley Cup winner Mark Streit. In 2020 NORQAIN announced a long-term partnership with Kenissi, the movement maker founded by Tudor, to power its manufacture calibres.
Products and positioning
NORQAIN launched with three collections:
- Independence
- Freedom
- Adventure
Early men's models used modified ETA and Sellita based calibres, hand assembled in Switzerland, with cases of 42 to 44 mm and water resistance to 100 metres. The NN08 calibre is chronometer certified.
Why it matters
NORQAIN is one of the few new independent Swiss watch brands of recent years to secure an in-house movement partnership, showing how a young family firm can position itself in mechanical sports watches.
