What is Roger Dubuis?
Roger Dubuis is a Swiss haute horlogerie manufacture headquartered in Meyrin, in the canton of Geneva. Nearly all its watches carry the Geneva Seal (Poinçon de Genève), which certifies the movement and the entire watch head.
History
The company was founded in 1995 by watchmaker Roger Dubuis and Carlos Dias, initially as SOGEM SA, and renamed Manufacture Roger Dubuis SA in 1999, the year its first in-house movements appeared. Richemont took a controlling interest in 2008 and full ownership in 2016.
Products and positioning
Roger Dubuis is known for striking, often skeletonised designs and complex mechanics. Key collections include:
- Excalibur, the flagship line since 2005
- Knights of the Round Table, first presented in 2013
- Earlier lines such as Sympathie, Hommage, La Monégasque and Velvet
The brand has partnered with Lamborghini Squadra Corse, Pirelli and Italdesign, and works with artists and ambassadors including Dr. Woo and Hajime Sorayama.
Why it matters
Roger Dubuis shows how a young manufacture can build a distinct luxury identity through technical certification and provocative design, making it a contemporary counterpoint within Richemont's watch portfolio.
