What is Promiss?

Promiss is a womenswear label of Dutch origin that offers plus-size fashion with a timeless, elegant style. Its collections are described as chic with urban elegance for the active woman.

History

Promiss was originally a brand of the Dutch FNG Group. After FNG Group was declared bankrupt in 2020, entrepreneur Martijn Rozenboom acquired Promiss together with Miss Etam, Claudia Sträter, Expresso and Steps. In November 2020 the Promiss label and its customer base were sold to Paprika, a Belgian plus-size fashion label founded in 1994 with branches in France, Germany and the Netherlands.

Distribution

Under Paprika, Promiss was relaunched as a primarily online brand with its own webshop, combined with a selected presence in high-end department stores in Europe. The collections are also available through Paprika's own online shops.

Why it matters

The Promiss deal is an example of a heritage brand from a collapsed retail group being rebuilt by a specialist as a digital-first label, and it strengthened Paprika's position in the European plus-size market.
