What is Roberto Geissini?

Roberto Geissini is the fashion label of Robert and Carmen Geiss, the couple known to German audiences from the RTL2 reality series Die Geissens. The brand turns the couple's flamboyant public image into clothing and accessories.

History

Robert Geiss has worked in fashion since 1980. He built and later sold the earlier label Uncle Sam around a decade after starting out, before going on to launch Roberto Geissini with his wife.

Products and positioning

The design language is deliberately loud. Typical pieces carry glittering skulls, large crosses and prominent branding, often printed on black backgrounds, in a style that sits between streetwear and celebrity merchandise.

Distribution

Alongside its own online presence, the label moved into bricks and mortar retail in May 2019, when the German fashion retailer Sinn began selling it in six of its stores.

Why it matters

Roberto Geissini is one of the best known examples in Germany of a fashion brand driven by television celebrity, showing how reality TV reach can be converted into a label with its own wholesale presence.
