History
The brand was founded in 1973 in Naples by Filippo Giardiello, who also owned Philip Watch at the time, and was later established in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. From 2001 it was owned by Bulgari's Opera Group and based in Lugano, before Morellato acquired it in 2006. The brand celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2023.
Products and positioning
Sector built its reputation on sports watches, starting with the 1000 series and followed by models such as the 2500, ADV 3000, 4500, 5500 and 7500. Under Morellato the offer has broadened to include smartwatches, sports watches and jewellery such as bracelets, alongside eyewear licensed under the Sector name.
Why it matters
