History
Daily Sabah reports that Emir Yargıcı founded the company in 1978 in Istanbul, starting with a shop selling only men's shirts in the Osmanbey district. Women's collections were added in 1988 and, from 2001, the company designed only women's collections. Haberturk adds that Emir Yargıcı and his brother opened the first store, and that Homeworks opened in 2015. The company also launched a cosmetics line called Waterworks.
Ownership
Haberturk reported in June 2021 that GB Retail Investments Holding, which bought 75 percent of Yargıcı in 2011, had applied to Turkey's Competition Authority to take sole control, and that Vakko Holding had signed a letter of intent in April and applied in May 2021 to acquire all shares. The sellers named in the Vakko application were GB Retail Investments Holding, Sefik Emir Yargıcı and Seda Yargıcı Arbatli. The sources reviewed do not confirm the outcome, so no current owner is stated.
