What is AKRIVIA?
AKRIVIA is an independent watchmaking workshop in the old town of Geneva. It was founded in 2012 by Rexhep Rexhepi, who started the company at the age of 25. The atelier works behind large windows that let passers-by see the watchmakers at work.
History
Rexhepi moved from Kosovo to Geneva in the late 1990s. He joined Patek Philippe as a trainee at 15, then worked at BNB Concept and at F.P. Journe, where he worked on the Resonance watches, before setting up his own brand.
Products and positioning
AKRIVIA makes high-end mechanical watches in very small quantities. Its models include:
- The first-generation Tourbillon Régulateur
- The AK-06, a second-generation design
- The Chronomètre Contemporain, which won a top prize at the 2018 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève
Each watch is assembled from start to finish by a single watchmaker, part of a small team of young craftsmen.
Distribution
Rexhepi deliberately limits growth in production and distribution and works with a small number of retailers that share the brand's values.
Why it matters
AKRIVIA is one of the leading names in the new generation of independent Swiss watchmaking, showing how scarcity, craftsmanship and transparency can build strong demand for a young brand.
