What is Damyller?
Damyller is a family-run denim brand from the south of Brazil, with its headquarters in Nova Veneza, Santa Catarina. It presents itself as a leading name in sustainable jeans in Brazil.
History
Cide Damiani founded the business on 13 March 1979 in Criciúma, starting with 10 employees and seven sewing machines. His three brothers later joined and still lead the company, with a second generation now working in style, sales and visual merchandising. The brand was first called Damy and became Damyller in 1991, a name that blends his parents' surnames, Damiani and Cavaller. The first store opened in 1987.
Products and positioning
Jeans are the core of the offer, alongside:
- Womenswear such as blouses, dresses, skirts and jackets
- Menswear including T-shirts, shirts, polos and sweatshirts
- Accessories such as bags, belts and caps
Working with Spanish technology company Jeanologia, Damyller adopted air-based finishing for most of its jeans production and laundering, which it reports has sharply reduced water and chemical use.
Distribution
Damyller has more than 110 stores across Brazil and an e-commerce site with in-store pickup and returns.
Why it matters
Damyller is a notable example of a vertically integrated Brazilian denim brand using finishing technology to address the environmental footprint of jeans production.
